Kathleen Hemmings celebrated her birthday with family and close friends. During the party, she gave two important pieces of advice for those who want to live to her age.
Kathleen Hemmings, a resident of Care UK Sandfields care home on St Georges Road in Cheltenham, celebrated her 105th birthday with her family, residents and staff.
The British woman was born on October 2, 1919 and grew up in Brixton, London, where she later began a successful career as an accountant. Kathleen enjoyed spending her evenings dancing at Covent Garden and regularly visited the Royal Opera House to watch operas and ballets.
Having lived in London during World War II, she felt the urge to try out country life. In 1965, Kathleen went to Cheltenham with her mother, brother Charlie and faithful dog Rusty.

The staff at the nursing home wanted to make the old lady's day unforgettable, so they threw her a special party with a cake and a large supply of her favorite beer.
"I had a great day - it was wonderful to have all my friends and family come to celebrate," the lady said.
Nursing home manager Dorothy Pye said her staff love throwing parties like this to celebrate special occasions for residents.
"The team worked tirelessly to make Kathleen's birthday one to remember. We would like to thank everyone who came out to raise a glass to her," she said.
