Momo the elephant celebrated her 70th birthday with friends (4 photos)
What could be cuter?
On October 29, the Yangon Zoo (Myanmar) celebrated the birthday of the oldest Asian elephant, Momo. The old woman was dressed in a beautiful blanket. She was led to a festive fruit cake. There were old photographs of the elephant in the background, and the stage was decorated in the best birthday traditions.
Other elephants with whom she lives in neighboring enclosures came to Momo’s holiday. The animals dined in front of the visitors who came to the celebration. The zoo held shows, dances and competitions in honor of Momo.
Momo's birthday has been celebrated since 2010. Momo was born in 1953 in Loikaw, Kayah State. Her owner, U Khun Sandah, donated her to the zoo in 1961.
Scientists from all over the world are trying to solve the mystery of the long-lived Momo. If they succeed, it could help preserve the health of Asian elephants around the world.
