In Indonesia, a tourist was washed away by a wave while posing for a photo (5 photos + 1 video)
20-year-old Roni Josua Simanjuntak was traveling along the coast of Indonesia with his friends. On October 13, he was relaxing on Kedung Tumpang Beach in East Java when he decided to take some photos of the rocky shore.
At first, the waters were calm, and Roni's friends even managed to swim near the rocks. But suddenly the ocean became raging.
A video posted on social media shows the moment a tourist is hit by a powerful wave and carried away into the Indian Ocean.
At first, eyewitnesses laugh at what is happening, but soon realize that the guy has disappeared.
Rescuers are continuing their search, but so far without success. They said they would call off the operation if Roni is not found by Sunday.
"The waves were between 2 and 4 meters high," said a spokesman for Indonesia's National Search and Rescue Agency. "This created significant difficulties for our team."
