A girl was hospitalized in Turkey because of an air conditioner (5 photos)

A British tourist ruined her health at a Turkish resort. 24-year-old Liana Foster was on holiday with her family in Antalya and one day woke up with an unbearable pain in her throat.





The girl's condition quickly worsened, her mother, 52-year-old Lynette, noticed white spots on her tonsils and took her daughter to the hospital.

Liana was treated for acute tonsillitis, she spent five hours on a drip. Doctors suggested that the air conditioning in the hotel room was to blame.



She is now finishing a course of antibiotics and is feeling much better.

Liana, a researcher from north London, said: "I felt weak and had a sore throat. I was shaking. I couldn't eat or drink. I thought it was Covid again. I had a high temperature and my body was aching. I went to hospital and they told me I had a bad case of tonsillitis. It could have been the air conditioning."





Liana arrived in Antalya on July 16, 2024 and immediately went to the hotel. She shared her impressions: "On the first night, we turned on the air conditioner. I think I breathe more through my mouth than my nose in my sleep. That played a role."

The next day, the girl woke up feeling unwell, but did not go to the doctor at the hotel, since it was "expensive." A day later, she developed a sore throat: "I had white spots on my tonsils."



"The doctors said it could be mould in the air conditioning. I couldn't take antibiotics orally, so I had injections twice a day for three days. It was in a lot of pain," Foster said.

She returned to the UK on July 23, 2024.

"I think if we hadn't slept with the air conditioning on, we would have been fine. I've had tonsillitis before, but never this bad. If bacteria gets into your throat, it can spread to your heart and other organs."
