McLaren F1 1995 with almost no mileage will be put up for auction (6 photos)
In May, Sotheby's will auction an unusual lot: the McLaren F1 supercar, which is considered the newest one available for purchase. The car was assembled in 1995, and since then it has traveled only 410 kilometers. Unfortunately, the auction will be held behind closed doors and the auction does not publish price expectations. At the last auction, this car was sold for more than $20 million.
The supercar was assembled for a customer from Japan. At his insistence, the coupe body was painted in a special shade, named Creighton Brown in honor of one of the founders of the company. There are no other F1s of this color. The car came with a range of accessories, including specially designed luggage bags and a TAG Heuer watch, all of which will be passed on to the new owner.
The current owner of the McLaren F1 from North Carolina, America, purchased it in 2021, paying $20,465,000. Since then, only 23 kilometers have been added to his mileage. It is noteworthy that at the time of the transaction, this supercar became the most expensive F1 in the world among those sold openly. In mid-May, the record may be broken; probably, trading data will not be made public.
The car has chassis number 29. In total, McLaren assembled 64 F1s with permission for public roads, equipped with a 6.1-liter V12 from BMW, developing 627 horsepower. With this engine, the McLaren F1 entered the Guinness Book of Records in 1998 as the fastest production car on the planet. The coupe managed to accelerate to an average value of 386.4 km/h over two runs, while the peak speed of the F1 then reached 391 km/h. It is generally accepted that, although this record has already been broken several times, the McLaren F1 still remains the fastest car in the world with a naturally aspirated engine.
