McLaren Elva of the Formula 1 champion will be put up for auction (25 photos)
On November 25, as part of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Bonhams auction house will put up for auction a rare McLaren Elva speedster with virtually no mileage. The estimated cost is between $2.5 million and $3 million. The personality of its owner adds to the attractiveness of the supercar. 
McLaren introduced the Elva speedster in 2019. The completely carbon fiber supercar is devoid of not only a roof, but also a windshield - the car is supposed to be driven with a helmet. The speedster is equipped with a four-liter V8 developing 815 hp. and 800 Nm, which allows you to accelerate to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds.
In total, only 149 of these machines were assembled, although initially the circulation was planned to be much larger. The copy that will go under the hammer has serial number 114 - it was assembled in 2022, and since then it has traveled only 5 kilometers. In fact, the supercar is new. It belongs to two-time Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso, who is expected to personally hand over the keys to the speedster to the winning buyer at the end of the auction.
The auction will take place right on the starting grid. In addition to Elva, only two additional lots are currently known. This is the McLaren MP4/21 car from the 2006 season, which Kimi Raikonen raced in; the car was valued at $2.5–3.5 million. In addition, a Lotus-Cosworth Type 79 chassis from 1978 in John Player Special livery will be up for auction. It is mentioned that this car was piloted by Mario Andretti, therefore, this car has a lot of formula victories to its name. They want to get from 6.5 to 9.5 million for this lot.
