Hey yes grandma! A 58-year-old Canadian woman stood in the plank for 4.5 hours.
A 58-year-old woman from Canada stood in the plank for 4.5 hours, thereby breaking the world record, according to the official website of the Guinness Book of Records.
Wilde stood more than 10 minutes longer than the previous record holder. The woman chose the school where she worked as a deputy director before retiring as the place to set a new record. The attempt to set a record was observed by an official judge from the Guinness Book of Records.
According to the athlete, the first two hours of the plank passed quickly for her, but then it was much more difficult. “The last hour was the hardest – you just had to focus and stay in shape,” says Wilde. She also shared that she was motivated by the presence of 12 grandchildren who came to support their grandmother. In addition, students from the school where the woman previously worked watched the record being set.
“I realized that I could read and do things while doing planks, and I loved it,” the record holder recalls. It is noted that the woman not only read and watched films while standing in the plank, but also studied her master’s program in this position.
The athlete also gave advice to anyone who would like to try to break his record:
“Don't stop there and keep training. When you need to read or work on the computer, just do it on the floor in a plank position.”
