The project of the extravagant electric sedan Mecha Dragon received a second life (12 photos)
The exotic Mecha Dragon sedan with a design inspired by computer games debuted back in 2021 under the Saloon (aka Sar) brand. Since then, only fragmentary information has appeared about the model, but, according to the latest data, the management of the Great Wall concern has revived the project. The car will enter the market under the Ora brand, the line of which now consists of electric cars in a fundamentally different style.
The arrival of Mecha Dragon should reposition the female-only brand Ora. The sedan will retain the angular design of the prototype, which debuted almost ready for production.
It is expected that the production version of Mecha Dragon will be equipped with a twin-engine power plant producing 544 hp. With. and 763 Nm, with which acceleration to 100 km/h for the four-door will take less than 3 seconds. A battery with a capacity of 115 kWh should provide a range of about 800 km.
The interior of the electric car will receive a digital instrument panel and a separate dual screen with a total diagonal of 27 inches. Thus, the front passenger will also have access to media content management. A head-up display, 16 Harman Kardon speakers and an advanced “autopilot” based on four lidars are also promised. In addition, the Mecha Dragon will be equipped with matrix optics, Brembo brakes and adaptive suspension.
The appearance of the new model should help sales of the Ora brand, which are systematically declining amid the growing popularity of gasoline models from the Great Wall concern. However, local market experts fear that Mecha Dragon will be too expensive for the highly competitive market and thus will initially be in a less advantageous position than, for example, Zeekr 001.
