Police, paramedics and two fire crews in Essex watched as bystanders tried to help the driver of a car stuck in floodwaters at a depth of about one and a half meters. At the same time, the professionals not only stood away from the water, but also persistently recommended that those who were concerned should mind their own business.
Later everything became clear: it turned out that the rescuers who arrived did not have permission to work in water deeper than waist-deep. They requested the help of those who had the right to go to great depths, and simply waited for the arrival of new specialists “while monitoring the situation.”
