Chrysler presented an electric car concept with seven doors and an interior made from recycled waste (13 photos)

Chrysler has declassified the Halcyon concept car, built on the promising modular electric platform STLA Large. The prototype is equipped with a fourth-level autopilot; its hinged side doors are complemented by lifting sections.

The STLA Large architecture is expected to be used for at least six new electric vehicles until 2026. Among them will be Chrysler models. However, it is unlikely that Halcyon will go into production in this form. If only because of the lack of a central pillar and complex doors combined with lifting roof sections.

The teardrop-shaped body design should provide minimal aerodynamic drag. Ultra-compact cameras instead of side mirrors also contribute to this. The glass area is very large. Ground clearance barely exceeds 100 millimeters.

The Halcyon is a hatchback, although it could easily be mistaken for a sedan. A movable spoiler and diffuser are installed at the rear. The car sits on 22-inch wheels with 255/35 tires.

Chrysler declares the presence of wireless charging technology in the concept. This means that, in theory, the electric Halcyon could be charged on the go, from the road surface. Traction batteries are lithium-sulfur. They are free of manganese, cobalt and nickel, reducing their carbon footprint by up to 60%.

The car can move in fully autonomous mode. In it, the steering wheel and pedals are removed, and the windows can be made opaque. There's a "stargazing mode" in which the seats recline and constellation information is projected via augmented reality onto the windshield.

The interior is made from 95% environmentally friendly recycled materials. In particular, CDs were used on the steering wheel. Plastic bottles are also widely used. Various commands can be given by voice and confirmed with biometric data.

A simplified version of the Chrysler Halcyon should become the successor to the discontinued 300C sedan, dating back to 2004. It will be an electric car, but it is unknown whether the Americans will have time to introduce all the declared technologies into the series.
