What happens if you go into outer space without a spacesuit (3 photos + 1 video)

A simulation has been created showing what will happen to a person in space without a spacesuit.

Spoiler: it looks as creepy as you can imagine.

A video on the DG EYE science Youtube channel shows exactly what a person can expect if his spacesuit is removed and thrown into outer space.

The situation for him will be, to put it mildly, less than ideal.

The video shows how creepy she really is. The description says: “Surprisingly, you probably won't explode. Although what happens will probably be no less shocking.”

So here's this animation.

In the first few seconds, the gases in the human body will begin to expand, which will lead to rupture of the lung tissue. Within five seconds, the water on the surface of the eyes, skin and mouth will begin to evaporate, and the water in the blood will “boil.” The body swells and becomes larger because the skin is “elastic and strong enough to withstand the pressure.” Finally, after all this, the heart slows down and stops, and the person dies of suffocation.

There is no atmosphere or pressure in space, and in the absence of pressure, the water in our bodies would boil, turning from liquid to gas. Considering that humans are two-thirds water, this is very important.

"Given that the human body is 60 percent water, this is a significant problem," Dr. Chris Lenhardt, a scientist with NASA's Human Exploration Program, told Live Science. “Essentially, all the tissues in your body that contain water will begin to expand.”

One astronaut who came close to experiencing this for himself was NASA aerospace engineer Jim LeBlanc. In 1966, he tested the performance of spacesuits in a vacuum chamber. At some point, the hose supplying pressurized air to the suit became disconnected. LeBlanc explained that he began to feel the effects before he finally lost consciousness.

"As I backed away, I felt the saliva on my tongue start to bubble just before I passed out, and that's the last thing I remember," he explained in the Moon Machines docuseries.

It sounds creepy. It's amazing that people still want to go into space.
