A British woman is suing the city council after her dog inhaled a spikelet while walking in the park. The woman spent more than 7 thousand dollars in pounds sterling on all operations to remove it. She blames local authorities for not cutting the grass properly.

60-year-old British woman Michelle Wingfield is suing the city council because her dog inhaled a spikelet while walking. It all started with a regular walk in the park, after which a dog named Macy started sneezing. She did this so often that her owner decided to take her to the vet. As a result of the examination, spikelets of grass (or ustyogs) were found in the dog’s nose, the removal of which required an expensive operation.

Two weeks later, spikelets were found in Macy’s paws. The entire procedure to remove the spikelets cost about £6,000. Now the landlady is demanding Kent County Council give her her money back, claiming workers did not properly remove piles of grass clippings.

"We tried to avoid grass clippings while walking, but there was some on the sidewalk. In our neighborhood, they mow grass five times a year. They could do this before the spikes form, or clean up the area more thoroughly. If you leave the grass with spikes lying around on the ground, this will only increase the danger, and even more grass will appear. I consider this negligence," says the woman.

At the moment, the woman is awaiting the Council's decision, hoping for reimbursement of expenses.

"Macy was sneezing so much that she could not sleep. We were terrified - it was unbearable to watch her. We just want to draw attention to this problem, because the spikelets are extremely dangerous - we did not know about this until this incident. Once in the body, they can move, cause pain to the animal, and even get into the brain. Now we are afraid to take the dog outside," said the owner.
