Khrushchev's visit to America in 1959 (22 photos)
On September 15-27, 1959, the first official visit in the history of Soviet-American relations by the leader of the CPSU and head of the Soviet government Nikita Sergeevich Khrushchev to the United States took place. The visit was covered by 2.5 thousand journalists and photojournalists accredited by the US State Department (including 41 Soviet ones), and according to the American Life magazine, the total number of journalists was at least 5 thousand people, which at that time was an absolute record.
