At Fukuoka subway stations, mirrors against peeping are installed next to the escalators. It has a specially designed viewing angle and size to allow passengers to spot voyeurs behind them or those who are taking furtive photos of people.

"We hope that this mirror will help reduce the number of victims and allow people to use the station safely," station manager Akiko Yamaguchi said Wednesday. So far, 110 cases of voyeurism have been reported in Fukuoka since January, 10 more than last year. Because the perpetrators have especially taken a liking to the escalators. It is assumed that women will literally walk around looking back. And walk around looking in the mirror. Although it may work if the criminal, upon seeing the mirror, is afraid of being caught and changes his mind about "attacking" on this particular staircase.
