French Shopkeeper Turns into a Meme After Trying to Defend His Business (2 Photos + Video)
Pierre Collan works at a Micromania store in Nice. It was his day off when the riots broke out, but he rushed over to protect the place where he spends 8 to 10 hours every day. By the time he arrived, the storefront window had already been shattered, and some of the merchandise had been looted.
In the footage, Pierre can be seen standing alone against the crowd next to a Dragon Ball Goku display. But at one point, just as he turns away, a looter attacks him from behind and knocks him off his feet.
The shopkeeper doesn't consider himself a hero and admits that what he did was foolish. What hurt him the most was that bystanders were just laughing while he tried to protect the store.
The clip has now gone viral, spawning memes across social media and prompting internet users to look for ways to offer Pierre financial support.
