Body odor at anime conventions has gotten so out of hand that "hygiene patrols" were recently spotted at Tokyo’s Comic Market, with women wielding deodorant sprays to target sweaty and foul-smelling attendees. 
Deodorant-bearing staff are now stationed at Tokyo’s Comic Market, offering particularly sweaty attendees a chance to freshen up.
Organizers even installed "Deodorizing Gates" where visitors could get sprayed down to neutralize bad odors—and even score a souvenir as a reward for giving everyone nearby a breath of fresh air.
The squads were intentionally staffed with women, as fans eager to take photos with female cosplayers were far more willing to approach them voluntarily and agree to a quick spray-down.
