In the early 1960s, Sharon was a dazzling beauty. Her father, an army officer, decided to give his daughter the opportunity to become an actress. She soon married the renowned director Roman Polanski. Sadly, her illustrious life ended at the most interesting point: the young wife of the Hollywood guru was murdered on August 8, 1969, by members of the Manson Family cult, when she was nine months pregnant.

See the last photos of Sharon Tate, taken by her friend Jay Sebring, who was murdered along with the actress in their San Diego mansion.

Sharon Tate became famous not for her acting talent, but for her romances with some of Hollywood's most famous men. She first dated stylist Jay Sebring and later married director Roman Polanski. Unfortunately, the beauty was not destined to live to see old age.

On August 8, 1969, Sharon Tate, her ex-boyfriend Jay Sebring, Wojciech Frykowski, and Abigail Folger were murdered by members of the Manson Family cult in the young family's home in San Diego, California. The director's wife was nine months pregnant.

A few days before the tragedy, Jay Sebring took a series of photos of Sharon, which would be the last of her life.

The horrific mass murder by members of the "Family" cult led by Charles Manson became one of the most notorious crimes of the last century. The cult, which espoused sex, drugs, rock 'n' roll, Satanism, and racism, terrorized Hollywood and America throughout the 1960s. Experts say many of the crimes committed by members of the "Family" remain unsolved.

Charles Manson dreamed of a career in show business. He learned to play guitar in prison and befriended Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys, and then producer Terry Melcher, the son of actress Doris Day.

The Beach Boys performed one of Manson's songs, but Melcher refused to sign him to a recording contract. This is believed to have led to the mass murder of Hollywood youth on an August day in 1969. Four cult members broke into the house and slaughtered everyone inside: Sharon Tate, her ex-boyfriend Sebring, two guests, and an 18-year-old girl who had come to see the caretaker. Roman Polanski was in London at the time, finishing work on a new film script.

Melcher rented a house in San Diego until February 1969, when Tate and Polanski moved in. The beautiful wood-and-glass mansion on a hilltop was Sharon's dream home.

The unexpected tragic death of a dazzling beauty in her prime shocked the entire world. The brutal killers were justly punished, but they never repented. Sharon Tate remains in people's memories as eternally young and beautiful—as captured in her last photographs.
