Scientists from Finland's University of Oulu have discovered that bumblebees are capable of independently solving complex problems without prior training. In the experiment, the insects had to use objects as tools to reach a sweet reward.
Many bumblebees were able to understand the problem and find a solution without prompting or training. The researchers believe the results change our understanding of insect cognitive abilities and demonstrate that even those with tiny brains can exhibit highly complex behavior.
