A lobster trap saved a surfer's life
In California, a surfer was found clinging to a lobster pot nearly half a kilometer from land.
The story began as a typical California evening: the ocean, the waves, and two surfers on a Santa Barbara County beach. Everything changed when a powerful wave swept the 26-year-old surfer out to sea while he was taking a refreshing dip. His friend immediately raised the alarm, and a search operation began.
After spotting the surfboard near the shore, rescuers launched drones with infrared cameras. They captured an incredible sight: nearly half a kilometer from land, in the darkness, the young man was clinging to a lobster pot buoy, struggling against a strong current.
The drone footage quickly went viral on social media. Fortunately, rescuers successfully evacuated the man to shore without injury.
