A curious incident occurred during a football match between Hull City and Bristol City. Early in the second half, a squirrel ran onto the field, causing play to be stopped. After a few minutes of pursuit, the match resumed, but the rodent soon returned and continued running around the field.
The squirrel twice ran into the Bristol goal, to the applause and cheers of the fans, and also jumped onto an advertising board.
Only after the second intrusion did stewards catch the culprit.
The fans voted the squirrel man of the match.
