A Man Made a Bathroom Floor Out of Money (3 photos)
Florida-based illustrator Patrick Girouard has earned praise for his painstaking efforts on a bathroom floor. He decided to stand out by using $97 worth of coins.
The man looked online at images of finished floors made using coins. After a little research, he chose what he considered to be the most effective method.
"I decided the best way was to use fiberglass mesh in rolls with low-tack adhesive on one side. The coins weren't part of a long-standing collection. I just went to my bank and exchanged $100," Patrick said.
Pros and Cons of Unusual Flooring
The American noted that he and his girlfriend spent two rainy weekends gluing the coins to the mesh squares and carefully laying them.
By that time, they had already removed the old ceramic tiles in the bathroom and laid a new layer of self-leveling concrete as a base. After grouting and sealing, Girouard calculated that they used $97 worth of coins, along with five buttons and one peso. The couple was pleased with the result.
"Honestly, I didn't find anything difficult, it was just a time-consuming process. We were very pleased with the finished floor. It's easy to maintain, and despite being metal, it creates a very cozy atmosphere in the room," the American added. ![]()
