A smart dog escapes from an animal shelter
A dog named Dawson managed to escape from a shelter in the United States on his own. He got out of his locked pen and then picked the front door. The moment of escape was captured on video.
The incident occurred at Huntington Cabell Wayne Animal Control Shelter, where the animal was reported missing.
"This dog is much smarter than he looks. Not only did he escape his locked pen, but he also managed to open the front door and escape. <...> Dawson is a good boy, but he needs a loving home. Not a life on the streets," the organization stated.
The shelter's security video has been viewed over 10 million times on social media, and Dawson has been nicknamed "Houdini the Dog."
The story ended happily—the dog found his way back on his own. According to staff, the dog sniffed the area overnight and eventually returned to the shelter.
