On December 3, activists emptied bags of manure near the Christmas tree at London's famous Ritz Hotel. This protest against the "obscenely rich" shocked both guests and staff.
On Wednesday at 12:05 PM, three people gathered near the Christmas tree at the Ritz Hotel in Mayfair. Guests immediately pulled out three bags and emptied the foul-smelling contents onto the carpet. Security guards tried to stop the offenders, but it was too late.
This is the new protest group Take Back Power's announcement. Its demand is to tax the rich to improve the situation in Britain.
The organization, which bills itself as a "new non-violent civil resistance group," is calling on the British government to create a House of the People. It should have the power to tax the excessively rich and facilitate the country's recovery.
Activists pledge to confront the "super-rich" who are "driving social collapse."
23-year-old participant Ellen Redwood-Brown said: "The billionaires, corporations, and corrupt politicians who run Britain don't care about us. Working in the National Health Service, I saw people die because they couldn't get appointments while doctors worked 15-hour days. There are 156 billionaires in the UK. We could redistribute 75% of their wealth to improve the country, and we'd still have 156 billionaires. Ordinary people need to be empowered to decide how to tax the rich."
Her fellow activist, Tom Barber, 65, a doctor from Nottingham, added: "Power is concentrated in the hands of a small group of obscenely rich and ruthless people. They are obsessed with profit, further widening the gap between the haves and have-nots. Ordinary people must take back their power by forcing the government to create a citizens' assembly—a House of the People."
"Only then can we make decisions that benefit everyone." Let's build a fairer society and restore faith in democracy."
A third Take Back Power spokesman stated: "The super-rich have seen their wealth increase significantly since the pandemic, while a third of British children are suffering and growing up in disadvantaged circumstances."
"On Wednesday, December 3, at approximately 12:14 pm, we received reports of an incident at the Piccadilly Hotel. Upon arrival, officers discovered horse manure in the lobby. Preliminary reports indicate this was an act of protest. No arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation is ongoing," the Metropolitan Police said.
