A total of 120 girls from all over the world took part in the pageant. Thirty beauties competed for the victory in the final.
In addition to the scandal involving the Thai director, the Miss Universe 2025 pageant was marred by other problems – several contestants, including the Hungarian representative, suffered food poisoning and missed important events.
Furthermore, just a few days before the final, two judges unexpectedly left the pageant, with one accusing the organizers of rigging the results.
Composer Omar Harfouch announced on social media that he had resigned from the eight-member jury and claimed that a secret jury had selected the top 30 contestants in advance of the final.
"I could not stand in front of the audience and television cameras pretending to legitimize a vote I never participated in," Harfouche said in a statement.
"The Miss Universe Organization stated that Harfouche's allegations 'distort' the judging process.
The Miss Universe Organization categorically states that no secret jury was created, that no external group was authorized to evaluate delegates or select finalists, and that all pageant judging continues to follow established, transparent, and controlled competition protocols," the organization said in a statement.
