Iron Man in Chinese: XPENG cut open a robot's leg to prove it wasn't human (2 photos + 3 videos)

What progress has come to, unimaginable wonders. The Chinese have learned to make robots that are almost too realistic, but you can't fool the public with such things. Inquisitive minds have repeatedly exposed the fakes of rice geniuses, but this time it turned out to be extremely serious.

This happened at Tech Day 2025 in Guangzhou on November 5th. Iron walked onto the stage with a graceful gait, like a cat on a catwalk. You can read about all the features of this magnificent model in this article; it's very interesting, I highly recommend it.

Only online users have seriously questioned the robot's realism. A barrage of criticism has descended on the creators of the new model. Rumors have even spread that they simply dressed the girl up in a costume and sent her down the runway.

The robot is 1.73 meters tall and weighs approximately 70 kilograms. It has a flexible spine, capable of bending like a human's. Its overall mobility is approximately 200 degrees of freedom, including approximately 60 joints. Each arm has 22 degrees of freedom, allowing it to precisely grasp objects, from large to fragile.

On November 6th, CEO He Xiaopeng couldn't take it anymore. At a separate event, he brought Iron out again, turned it on, and ordered the engineers to cut it. They carefully cut away the fabric and foam from its left leg, exposing the metal, servos, and wires. The robot didn't flinch. With its exposed mechanics, it strode across the stage as if nothing had happened. It all looked incredibly creepy.

A 3D display is mounted on its head, which serves as a "face" and can display emotions. The "Eagle-Eye" visual system provides a 720-degree field of view for spatial awareness. Computing power is provided by three custom Turing AI chips with a combined performance of 2,250 TOPS (trillion operations per second).

Iron is no toy. Powered by a solid-state battery, it's controlled by three Turing chips and a model of the physical world. Its arms have 22 degrees of freedom, like a human's. Xpeng has invested $13.8 billion in robots.

The AI and software include the VLA 2.0 model, which links vision, language, and action, as well as the VLT (Vision-Language-Transformer) for autonomous thinking and decision-making. The Tianji AIOS operating system is responsible for perception, control, and voice interaction. An open SDK is available for developers.

The company has ambitious plans: mass production by the end of 2026, an SDK for developers. Would you like one?
