A law student poisoned four people for fun (5 photos)
Law student Ana Paula Veloso Fernandes poisoned four people in five months. The 36-year-old Brazilian carefully planned her crimes. She admitted to testing the poison on 10 dogs before using it on her victims.
Marcelo Fonseco was the first victim. In January, Fernandes rented a room in his home in Guarulhos and poisoned him just four days later. She left his body to decompose.
In April, the killer met Maria Aparecida Rodrigues and plied her with poisoned coffee.
Police allege she tried to frame her former partner, a military officer, by forging notes and baking a poisoned cake. She was assisted in this by Robert's twin sister, Cristina Veloso Fernandes, and her friend, Michelle Paiva da Silva.
Police officer Halisson Ideiao stated: "Ana Paula gets real pleasure from killing. Her motives are irrelevant – she just wants to kill."
She was the last person seen near the victim and the first to call the police.
Michelle Paiva da Silva paid a friend 4,000 reais to kill her 65-year-old father. Ana Paula cooked the man a poisoned stew.
The fourth victim was a 21-year-old Tunisian man with whom the woman had a romantic relationship. Fernandez faked a pregnancy to keep her lover, but he broke up with her. She poisoned him with a milkshake.
Officer Ideiao added that the perpetrator displayed "coldness, indifference, and took obvious pleasure not only in the crime but also in watching the victims suffer."
"[She] would undoubtedly try to kill again."

During a search of her home, police found the banned pesticide terbufos.
The women committed the murders between January and May 2025 in Guarulhos and São Paulo in southeastern Brazil and in Duque de Caxias in Rio de Janeiro state.
Fernandes, her sister, and da Silva have been detained. The investigation is ongoing. Police are awaiting the results of the forensic examination of the exhumed bodies.
