Rotterdam's Cubic Quarter

In Rotterdam, you'll find the unusual residential area of Kubuswoningen. The buildings there appear to dance.

The complex was built in the 1980s, designed by architect Piet Blom. It consists of 38 regular cubes and a pair of larger "supercubes," connected by walkways. The area resembles an abstract sculpture, with each cube representing a three-story building with slanted walls and unexpected layouts.

Today, people live here, there are cafes, and there's even a hostel in one of the "supercubes." Tourists come to this area to take unusual photos and capture that unusual sensation of seeing everything "squared" before their eyes.
