New Zealand MP Oriini Kaipara performed a ritual haka, an indigenous dance, to temporarily disrupt parliament. Before her election, Kaipara was a journalist and the first news anchor with a facial tattoo.
During her first speech in parliament, Oriini Kaipara, a party MP, suddenly began performing the haka along with the audience. The dance was traditionally performed by warriors before battle and was intended to intimidate opponents. The assembly was adjourned, and the Speaker promised to investigate and punish the organizers of the protests.
