Renault to put 100 vintage and sports cars up for sale (8 photos)
The cars will be accompanied by an extensive collection of accessories and artifacts.
Renault has decided to reorganize its collection of historic cars in preparation for the opening of its new museum. One of the events in this program will be an auction scheduled for December 7th, at which Renault, with the support of Artcurial, will offer approximately 100 museum cars—both classic road cars and iconic track cars.
A detailed list of lots has not yet been published, but it is known that, for example, two dozen racing cars will be up for auction. Among them are a 1983 RE40 chassis and a 1975 Alpine A442 prototype, a Renault-Lotus 95T, and an RE30 B9 chassis. In addition to the cars, about a hundred different artifacts will be auctioned, including engines and design mockups.
Renault plans to keep one representative of each model and modification dating back to 1898 in the factory museum, and will put the duplicate exhibits up for sale. The new museum will open in 2027 and will be located in Flins, a suburb of Paris, on the site where such iconic models as the Dauphine, Renault 5, and several generations of the Clio were developed. The sale will also take place there.
