Renault presented a futuristic concept that should break the long-range record (9 photos)

Renault has unveiled the previously unannounced futuristic concept car Filante Record 2025. This is not just a design model: Renault calls the prototype a laboratory on wheels, where new energy-saving technologies are being tested. In February, Filante Record 2025 will be shown at an exhibition in Paris, after which they will begin preparing to set a world record for the longest range on a single charge. Among the lightest electric prototypes, the record currently belongs to the 170-kilogram muc022, its result is 2575.8 kilometers on a single charge.





The appearance of the concept car, as per Renault tradition, refers to historical models - prototypes of 1925 and 1956, which set several speed records. In addition, the appearance of the Filante Record 2025 shows features of modern fighter aircraft. It is claimed that every detail of the body is optimized for the sake of improved aerodynamics. At the same time, the layout of the single-seat cockpit was spied on Formula 1 cars.

With a length of more than 5 meters, the concept weighs less than one ton. Renault engineers have taken a number of measures to save weight, from the active use of carbon fiber and 3D printing of aluminum in the chassis and body structure to small interior details. For example, information about the state of the power electronics is displayed on an ultra-thin screen in the center of the steering wheel, and the pilot's seat is a composite frame covered with fabric.

Michelin has developed 19-inch tires with particularly low rolling resistance specifically for the concept - the indicator was improved by 40% compared to the average. Among other technical details, Renault mentions control of the wheels and brakes by wires without a mechanical connection, as well as the battery capacity. It is 87 kWh - the same as the serial Renault Scenic E-Tech. The crossover with such a battery and a 218-horsepower engine can travel up to 610 kilometers. The company will most likely reveal detailed specifications of the concept's powertrain closer to the record attempt. It should take place in the first half of this year.
