New Lada turned out to be a pirated copy of Logan (3 photos)
The new Lada Iskra debuted behind the wheel. The compact sedan is not an independent development, because it is based on the Dacia/Renault Logan of the third generation. Focus writes about it.
Of course, the president of AvtoVAZ Maksym Sokolov did not announce this at the presentation, but only stated that the model was developed in "record time" and built on a "fully localized" modern platform.
This platform is none other than the Renault CMF-B LS, which is used by the third-generation Logan. It was planned to be produced in the Russian Federation, but a full-scale invasion of Ukraine forced Renault to withdraw the project, sell Russian assets and completely stop cooperation with AvtoVAZ. In fact, Renault Logan was turned into Lada Iskra and its development was apparently carried out without a license from Renault.
In addition, the similarity of Lada Iskra and Renault/Dacia Logan in profile is visible to the naked eye - the silhouettes of the cars are the same. The Russian sedan is distinguished by the design of the front part, wings and lights.
But Lada Iskra engines were borrowed from other models of the brand. The sedan will be equipped with the same 90 and 106 hp 1.6-liter fours as Lada Granta and Vesta. A Chinese 6-speed manual gearbox and a variator will be offered as an option.
The new Lada Iskra will go into production from 2025. The sedan will occupy a niche between Lada Granta and Vesta.
