Hybrids based on the newly developed internal combustion engine can be either parallel or series.

Horse Powertrain, a joint venture between Geely and Renault, will present the X-Range engine family at the Munich Motor Show. These engines are intended to convert pure electric vehicles into parallel and series hybrids. Several powertrain versions are currently on offer, and they are expected to be sold to anyone.

The X-Range Future Hybrid System (FHS) consists of a 1.5-liter V-4, an electric motor, and a front-wheel drive system. One configuration includes two electric motors and is 740 millimeters wide. The second model has a single electric motor and is only 650 millimeters wide. A third modification, only 580 millimeters wide, is also in development. It uses a more compact three-cylinder internal combustion engine.

The X-Range FHS can be installed in the engine bay of even the most compact front-engine electric vehicles in place of the stock electric motor. If a rear motor is present, it can be connected to the X-Range, enabling all-wheel drive. The internal combustion engine can run on gasoline, synthetic fuel, or biofuel. Full specifications of the powertrains will be announced later.

The X-Range Horse C15 is the second model in the lineup. While the FHS can be used to build parallel and parallel-series hybrids, this model only supports a series configuration. The kit includes a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, generator, cooling system, and exhaust system. There is no transmission. The module can be installed in either the front or rear.

The Horse C15 will also have more than one variant. The naturally aspirated engine produces 95 horsepower. Dimensions: 500 x 550 x 275 millimeters. The turbocharged version produces 163 horsepower. All powertrains, according to the developers, comply with the upcoming Euro-7 emission standards.
