I'm 210 cm tall, my husband is 165 cm. People smirk and stare at us, but I don't care (5 photos + 1 video)
Elisane da Cruz Silva stands out from the crowd. She was born with gigantism, a rare endocrine disorder in which the body produces excess growth hormone. The 30-year-old Brazilian holds the title of the tallest woman in the world, standing at 210 cm. However, this didn't stop her from marrying a man who is only 165 cm tall.
When Elisane first met Francinaldo da Silva Carvalho eight years ago, sparks flew between them. They fell in love immediately, despite the disapproval of those around them.
"She's wonderful," he noted. "Tall and incredibly attractive, with a beautiful face."
Two years after they met, the couple married. Soon after, they had a son, Angelo; he's now three years old.
Despite their harmonious relationship, the couple often faces criticism on social media and in real life.
"When we appear in public, people look at us with smirks," Elisane complains. "Even if they're silent, it's clear they're judging us."
"I've suffered a lot and gone through depression." Now, when people say something to me, I don't pay attention. I ignore it and don't want to think about it."
When Francinaldo's family was asked about their relationship, they admitted they initially thought it was strange.
"I didn't believe anything would come of it, especially when they decided to live together," said Socorro, his aunt.
But that quickly changed.
Francinaldo's mother remarked, "They have a wonderful family."
The couple's journey wasn't without its challenges. During their first pregnancy, when they were expecting twins, Elisana suffered a miscarriage.
"I always wanted to be a mother, but I found out I'd lost two children. They were twins. I was devastated," she said.
Soon, grief turned to joy when Silva learned she was pregnant again.
"The birth of my son was the happiest moment of my life," the Brazilian woman shared.
Now Elisana dreams of becoming a model.
"I dream of her achieving success in her modeling career," Francinaldo said. "This will allow us to provide our son with a good future and send him to school."
