Eyelash extensions - yesterday and today (10 photos)
Many girls would like to make their look more mysterious and expressive. But it’s so difficult to imagine a beauty without long and thick eyelashes with a perfect curve. This framing of the eyes gives expressiveness to the look, making the eyes brighter and more attractive. There are several ways to make your eyes more expressive, and the most effective of them is eyelash extensions.
1) The history of eyelash extensions begins in the dressing rooms of Hollywood. It was there that the legendary Max Factor, the most famous makeup artist of the 20th century, invented false eyelashes, whose name today has become a famous brand.
2) Working as a leading Hollywood make-up artist, in 1927 Max Factor created the first artificial eyelashes for actress Phyllis Haver, who was the first performer of the role of Roxie in the musical Chicago. The film was silent, and the actress actively batted her expressive eyelashes, which immediately pleased both the public and Hollywood masters.
3) So, in the American movie dream factory, the first and simplest method of eyelash extension appeared - with the help of fringe. The fringe was carefully glued to the thread, and this entire structure was carefully attached to the eyelid. And although everything looked very unnatural up close, and such beauty was very short-lived and expensive to manufacture, it was quite suitable for film and television stars. Therefore, for a very long time, false eyelashes were the exclusive domain of film stars and they came out to the people only in the early 50s.
4) It was in the 50s that a new wave of popularity of eyelash extensions began, now among ordinary women. After all, the procedure has already been improved and is much more accessible than before. And the eyelashes looked much more natural... Of course, the wave of demand for eyelash extensions was again associated with cinema - it was film stars, such as, for example, Sophia Loren (pictured) who made fluffy and long eyelashes a mandatory attribute of makeup.
5) Years passed, fashion and style changed, and cosmetic procedures became more and more advanced. Artificial eyelashes have not escaped progress either. Now eyelash extensions at home are not a problem and for many girls it has become a common procedure, similar to regular manicures or hair coloring.
6) The good old fringe that lasts for several days is still used, but new extension techniques have gradually appeared. So, with the advent of the 21st century, new extension procedures appeared and eyelashes were developed that exactly replicate real ones. At first, the eyelashes were collected in bunches and still glued to the base of the eyelid.
7) And in the mid-2000s, new technologies were developed in Japan that make it possible to grow each eyelash individually. At the same time, each eyelash is curled and has a texture similar to natural - a thicker base and a thin tip. This type of extension is somewhat more complicated than gluing beams and requires more time and skill. But the game is worth the candle, since each eyelash glued on top of a natural one looks much more natural.
8) In recent years, the procedure for eyelash extensions has become widespread throughout the world, not only due to the aesthetic effect, but also practicality. Thanks to eyelash extensions, girls now don’t have to waste time removing and applying mascara, or they are afraid that their “eyes will run.” They are always beautiful, no matter where they go - to the bathhouse, sauna, swimming pool. And all day long their eyes are expressive and bright.
9) Eyelash extensions are especially popular among representatives of the Land of the Rising Sun. The reason for this popularity is quite prosaic - according to the Japan Lash Association, the length of the average Japanese woman's eyelashes is only 5.8 mm, which is less than half the length of the eyelashes of Westerners.
10) Professionally performed eyelash extensions look very natural. Sometimes it is even difficult to distinguish artificial eyelashes from natural ones. Therefore, it is very important to choose a good specialist with extensive experience who is able to make the transition border invisible (as in the photo). Eyelash technology requires a certain degree of skill, which is why it is so important not to make a mistake in choosing a specialist.
