Americans created a 560-horsepower motor-wheel lighter than 30 kilograms (4 photos)
Orbis Electric, a California startup, has introduced the HaloDrive electric motor. It is designed to be built directly into the wheel. It is distinguished by its reduced weight and very high power.
The axial magnetic flux motor weighs 29.5 kilograms. It has a plastic stator, adjustable gearbox and proprietary EcoWave braking system. The motor can be used both in electric vehicles and as part of hybrid power plants. The declared efficiency is 97%.
But the most interesting thing is the power characteristics of the motor. It develops 560 hp and almost 5500 Nm. Moreover, these are the parameters that already come to the wheel. Even with just two of these engines installed, the car will almost be a supercar. But in the case of serial production, the company will probably offer different customization options.
Orbis Electric advertises its collaboration with Volkswagen in developing an all-wheel drive electric vehicle with in-wheel motor technology. In general, the startup has been developing in-wheel motors since 2018.
