A man threw himself into a running airplane engine at the Bergamo airport in Italy
The footage shows the 35-year-old construction worker, who arrived at the airport without a ticket, running away from the staff after going through security and getting into a rotating engine at high speed.
Sacbo, the airport's operating company, suspended flights from 10:20 to 12:00 local time. Law enforcement agencies are investigating the cause of the incident.
"The dramatic event has shaken the entire airport community," said Sacbo President Giovanni Sanga, expressing condolences to the family of the deceased.
There were 154 passengers and six crew members on board, none of whom were injured. The passengers were given psychological assistance. The airline later organized a new flight.
