A Boy Who Raised in a Pack of Dogs Was Found in Thailand (4 photos)

Social services have found an eight-year-old boy raised by a pack of dogs in a dilapidated shack in northern Thailand. The child crawls on all fours and communicates by barking.





The boy lived in Laplae district, Uttaradit province, with his 46-year-old mother and 23-year-old brother. The family reportedly neglected the child and he was deprived of human contact. His friends were six dogs, whose behavior he adopted.

The child was found thanks to Sophon Sikhaamphai, the school principal. The student was enrolled but never showed up for classes, causing concern. The school alerted activist Pavina Khonsakul of the Children and Women's Aid Foundation about the problem, who in turn contacted the local police.



On June 30, social workers and police visited the dilapidated house and found the child in appalling conditions. The mother and brother were caught using drugs after testing positive for banned substances. Authorities removed the boy from the family, and he is now living in an orphanage.

Pavina Khonsakul said the child did not speak, but only barked.

"It was painful to watch," she added.





The mother only brought the child to school once, to receive a government subsidy for his education.

"She took the money and forgot about her son," Pavina complained.

Neighbors say the woman often asked for money and food at local temples, and parents did not allow their children to be friends with the boy because of his mother's behavior.



Pavina has already arranged for the child to be educated. Her foundation will continue to support him, collaborating with the Thai ministries of social development and education.

She noted: "The boy has a chance to live a happy life. We will make sure he gets everything he needs."
