In the United States, police discovered cages with 150 dogs in a residential building, living in terrible conditions. Breeders bred dogs without caring one bit about their health and well-being. This case was called "egregious."
Recently, police in North Carolina, USA, made an urgent request to a local animal welfare organization. They arrived at the house where they found more than 150 dogs living in terrible conditions. All the dogs were of the Schnauzer or Miniature Schnauzer breed, and lived in small, dirty cages surrounded by urine and feces. According to police reports, the owners of the house were breeding dogs of these breeds, but unfortunately did not care about the living conditions of the animals.
Several dead dogs were even found in cages. Among those rescued were newborn puppies, dogs suffering from dehydration, malnutrition, parasites, skin diseases, and injuries. Two local animal rescue organizations responded to the request for help, went to the house and took all the dogs. They helped shelter them, and also provided assistance with treatment, transportation and legal paperwork.
Most of the dogs are now in treatment and in shelters. Police also arrested and charged the homeowner with cruelty to animals.
"This is a blatant case of animal neglect and cruelty. These dogs were bred for money with no regard for their health or well-being," the BISSELL Pet Foundation said.
