Tesla Model 3 became the safest car in Europe (10 photos)
EuroNCAP has published a list of cars that it tested in the first half of 2025. There are 19 models in total, and each has a rating of at least four stars. The experts highly rated the safety level of six cars from China, and the Tesla Model 3 electric car earned the maximum. As a result, at the moment, it is considered the safest car of 2025 on the European market.
The protection of adult passengers provided by Model 3 was rated at 90%, and for children - at 93%. The electric car will protect pedestrians from injury with an 89% probability, and the electronic systems of Model 3 are 87% effective. The testers put the Polestar 3 in second place, which has similar ratings for adult and child protection, but it lost to the leader in other parameters. It is noteworthy that the Audi A6 e-tron, which took third place in the rating, takes care of adults even better than the leaders (92%), but a lower level in other categories did not allow it to rise higher.
Fourteen out of 19 cars tested in 2025 received a five-star rating. Five models rated only four stars belong to European and Korean brands. Thus, all the "Chinese" cars that passed the tests have five stars, despite the fact that two of them, the relatively compact Voyah Courage and Geely EX5 crossovers, closed the top 5 safest cars. EuroNCAP also tested the BYD Sealion 7, MG S5, Hongqi E-HS9 and the hybrid Jaecoo 7 in 2025.
Shortly before the rating was published, the association released the results of individual tests of the electronic assistance systems of nine new models, and the Tesla Model S took only the penultimate place. In addition to purely technical shortcomings, the agency's experts lowered the rating for the incorrect and, in their opinion, misleading nature of Tesla's advertising materials. The company continues to use the name Autopilot for its complex of assistants, but at the same time, as EuroNCAP stated, the system is not fully autonomous.
