A camper suitable for long-term living based on a Freightliner FS65 will be auctioned off complete with an electric bicycle.





A camper made from a popular Freightliner FS65 school bus will be auctioned off at Mecum in Florida on July 11. The camper has everything necessary for permanent living for at least two people and will be sold complete with an electric bicycle, which is attached to its rear. The auctioneers have not published price expectations for this lot.

The Freightliner FS65 was produced from 1997 to 2006 with several wheelbase options and engines from Mercedes-Benz, Cummins or Caterpillar. According to Silodrome, a total of 62,764 units were built, and many of them continue to operate in the United States to this day.

The bus that served as the basis for the motorhome is one of the "youngest", a 2006 model year, but according to the odometer, it has already traveled over 309 thousand kilometers. Under the hood in this case is a 4.8-liter inline diesel "six" Mercedes-Benz MBE-900, combined with an automatic transmission.

The living area has sleeping places for two people, a sofa, a kitchen module with a two-burner hob and a sink, a flow-through water heater, a refrigerator, a pair of air conditioners, a full shower and toilet, as well as many cabinets and drawers for storing things. For electrical appliances, a battery system is provided, charged from external sources. The description of the lot specifies that the car has undergone a comprehensive restoration and is registered as a van.
