In the US, police arrested an alligator that violated traffic rules (3 photos)
In North Carolina, police "arrested" a large alligator that stopped traffic because it was sunbathing right in the middle of the road.
This unusual incident attracted the attention of not only the police, but also confused drivers, writes What's the jam
Puzzled drivers were forced to slow down or even stop, because the giant reptile, three meters long, was lying on a double yellow line.
Officers at the scene said they detained the creature on "suspected of being an undocumented dinosaur, loitering in public with the intent to sunbathe, and obstructing traffic."
The incident occurred in Onslow County, North Carolina. The 400-pound alligator, humorously nicknamed Pepe, calmly lay in the middle of the roadway, enjoying the warmth of the sun and, according to witnesses, even "posing" for the cameras of amazed drivers.
Onslow County Sheriff's Office and representatives of the North Carolina Wildlife Commission quickly arrived at the scene.
Eventually, the scaly suspect was moved to a safer, alligator-friendly location, away from roads and drivers.
What's The Jam noted that no one was hurt during the strange encounter.
