What do you think would happen if 60,000 people were jumping around in the same place at the same time?
The other day, a famous trash band played at a football stadium in Blacksburg. There was quite a crowd, according to the organizers, about 60 thousand fans came to the event.
The crowd reacted so joyfully to the performance of the intro to the hit Enter Sandman that it caused a superficial disturbance of the earth's crust in the area. The Virginia Tech Seismological Observatory (VTSO) recorded tremors caused by the concert's intense energy.
VTSO Director Martin Chapman confirmed to reporters that their seismograph, located about a mile from Lane Stadium, clearly recorded ground movement caused by the enthusiastic crowd.
The seismic activity, which was quickly dubbed the "Metallica earthquake" online, was not dangerous and was too small to register on the Richter scale or receive a rating.

If anyone couldn't make out what they were playing over the roar of the crowd, here's a clearer recording of the timeless classic.
