Activists in Poland glued themselves to the roadway and complained about rescuers (3 photos)
The Last Generation activists glued themselves to the road in Poland and accused the emergency services that helped them escape of abuse of power.
In early May, environmental activists repeatedly blocked Warsaw highways by gluing themselves to the asphalt with superglue. On May 9, they stopped traffic on the S8 highway, causing a 15-kilometer traffic jam, and firefighters had to use a pneumatic hammer to free the protesters. After the protest, some of the participants were taken to psychiatric hospitals in separate ambulances, and road workers repaired the damaged section of the roadway.
In their statement, The Last Generation representatives noted that during the protest, people around them showed “verbal aggression and physical violence” towards the protesters, forcibly pulling them off the road. Also, according to the activists, the protests that took place on May 5, 6 and 7 were carried out with abuse of authority by emergency services. The organization stated that rescuers used dangerous methods during the protests, including using solvents to peel off the adhesive, which threatened the health of the protesters. The activists believe that their actions are a peaceful form of civil disobedience, and the police should ensure their safety, not endanger them.
