While Irish men forget where they park their cars when drunk, things are completely different in the UK.
In February 2025, Evan Valentine's 2016 Honda Civic R was stolen right outside his home. He was upset for a long time, filed a police report, and fought with the insurance company. But, alas, the police could not help him in any way, and it turned out to be impossible to find the car.
But since the guy really liked this brand, he decided to buy the same car. He contacted a reputable dealership, where they kindly picked out a car for him, slightly used, but in excellent condition.
The new car turned out to be almost a copy, except for the VIN number. And it also had the same custom-made exhaust system as the stolen vehicle.
After the purchase, the man began to notice oddities: his phone automatically connected to the system, the old key fit the lock perfectly. And upon careful inspection of the trunk, he found a couple of very familiar things. That's when he began to suspect that he had bought his own stolen car from the dealership.
The owner identified the original trash in the trunk.
The police confirmed: the VIN number is not real, and the car was stolen. Now they are looking for the scammers who sold the stolen car to the dealership. Well, the owner himself hopes to get his money back from the dealership, since the car originally belonged to him.
