It is worth mentioning right away that such a price is achieved after all sorts of deductions and subsidies for the purchase of electric cars. For the sake of a low price, the car was even equipped with "oars" - mechanical window lifters. 
At the same time as the Shanghai Auto Show, a presentation of a new car manufacturer was held in the USA. The company is called Slate Auto, and its first model was a budget and compact pickup truck, which they promise to sell for a price of $ 20,000.
In terms of its dimensions, the two-seater pickup with the simple name Truck is really tiny. From bumper to bumper it is slightly less than 4.5 meters, while the length of the cargo platform is about 1.5 meters, like some full-size models on the market. The new product weighs 1.6 tons and can carry up to 650 kg of cargo, including what will fit in the 200-liter front trunk.
The simplicity of the exterior design extends to the interior. There is no separate media system inside, instead there is a factory mount for a smartphone. At the same time, the list of options includes speakers to which you can connect your phone via Bluetooth. The digital dashboard is also made compact. In pursuit of cost reduction, the creators even abandoned the basic electric windows of our time, installing classic "oars". At the same time, the company does not skimp on safety. The car will receive a set of driver assistants and both standard and additional airbags.
The pickup truck has an independent McPherson-type front suspension, while the rear suspension is dependent on the De-Dion scheme. The Truck is driven by one 201-horsepower (400 Nm) electric motor on the rear axle, powered by a 52.7-kilowatt battery. This combination will allow the pickup to travel up to 240 km without recharging. An 84.3 kWh battery is available as an option, increasing the range to 386 km. The maximum speed is limited to 145 km/ h.
It is noted that soon after the market debut of the model, the company will prepare a wide range of branded accessories: from various body wrapping options, because the only paint color is gray, to a superstructure and a sofa that turn the Truck into a five-seater SUV.
Slate Auto intends to manufacture the car in the United States, but the location of the plant has not yet been announced.
