An American called 911 after finding a “dead” elephant in his yard (4 photos)
A California man has become the butt of jokes on the Internet. It all started when a scared man called the Palm Springs Police Department on Thursday. He saw a "dead" elephant near his home and asked for help.
Animal control rushed to the call, but were in for a surprise. It turned out that the "fallen giant" was actually... a statue toppled by the wind.
"Tranquilizers were not needed, and there were no reports of the animal's panicked flight. "Just another windy day in Palm Springs and a reminder to take care of your statues, especially the life-size ones," the police department posted humorously on social media.
The photo posted shows the man-made elephant slumped on its side against a concrete wall. It is unknown where the statue came from or where it went after police investigated the situation.
The police department's announcement of the "special" case prompted laughter and witty comments from viewers.
"Ha, someone needs cataract surgery," wrote one.
Another joked that the elephant was an "abandoned pet" and needed to be adopted.
Since the elephant is a symbol of the Republican Party, users speculated that "it fainted when it heard about Trump's tariffs."
"Apparently the Republican saw the Dow Jones."
