A two-year-old roe deer was rescued in the Polish city of Zielona Gora after it was hit by an unknown driver. He fled the scene, and the animal was left lying on the road. The incident, which occurred on March 19, was reported on the Facebook page* by the environmental foundation Ekspedycja 404.



Local residents gathered around the injured roe deer, some covered the animal with their clothes. One of the women, the head of the foundation, hugged the roe deer for two hours, warming it with her own body.

After some time, veterinarians arrived at the scene. The roe deer was saved, the next day it got stronger, and was released into the wild.

The woman's actions were reported on his Facebook page* by Polish Sejm deputy Lukasz Litewka. In the comments, however, many began to criticize the woman, claiming that she hugged the animal for "publicity". Others believed that the deer should not have been touched: according to users, the hugs caused the animal additional stress.



The head of the Ekspedycja 404 foundation explained that she and other local residents could not help but intervene in the situation: the hit animal at the very least had to be removed from the roadway. The hugs, according to the woman, were necessary so that the deer would not accidentally harm itself, since at that time it was unknown what kind of injuries it had.
