Too big breasts: a blogger demands millions from a surgeon for a ruined career (2 photos + 1 video)
British beauty blogger Danielle Mansutti is seeking £1.7m in compensation from surgeon Domenico Mileto, accusing him of installing "too big" breast implants that disfigured her appearance and ruined her career.
Mansutti, 30, who has amassed more than 1.6m YouTube subscribers for her makeup tutorials and fashion reviews, went under the knife for the first time in December 2020. She subsequently required two more operations in January and May 2021 after her left breast began to sag and her nipple began to "point outwards".
Danielle claims the implants were too big for her frame, causing her chest muscle to separate from the bone and leaving her breasts severely asymmetrical. She was forced to have them removed but says she was left with an "ugly appearance", scarring, pain and emotional trauma.
The claim against Dr Mileto includes £1.4m in potential loss of earnings due to her social media presence being cut off, as well as damages for physical and emotional injury. Mansutti claims the doctor's advice was disastrous because she relied on his professional opinion.
The plaintiff's lawyer, Caroline Hallisey, said the patient was not fully informed of the risks associated with the size of the implants. Moreover, when she expressed a preference for a smaller size, Dr Mileto allegedly insisted on larger ones, assuring her breasts would "drop" over time and look natural.
Dr Mileto's defence, however, claims the implants were chosen at the patient's own request, and she was able to test several sizes before making her decision. The doctor's representative also noted that she was advised to return for a follow-up consultation if she had any doubts.
The case will be heard at London's High Court in a five-day hearing later this year.
