50 yuan a month for sleeping in the toilet: about the rental crisis in China (7 photos)
You haven't been to China, there's not just a housing problem there, but a tragedy, in some cities - a catastrophe. Recently, there was a very loud discussion about the life circumstances of a young Chinese woman who, out of desperation, rents a toilet in an office to sleep in and pays 50 yuan for it.
Mmm, a luxurious bed, aesthetics!
How to live on 30 thousand in China
No way. A little math using the example of a young girl. An 18-year-old girl surnamed Yang came from a rural province to Zhuzhou in Hunan Province, where she found a job in a furniture store. She was given a salary of 2,700 yuan. Rent was 800 to 1,800 yuan. The girl could not afford it, so she had to ask her boss to let her sleep in the office toilet.
Video footage of her daily life, you can be sure she washed the floors twice
In a six-square-meter room with two toilets and a sink, Yang installed a folding bed in the toilet, put a small saucepan, hung a curtain and a clothes hanger. In exchange, she also cleans the toilet before bed so that she can sleep cleaner. This is just one of a thousand stories, simply shocking in the place of residence - a shared toilet, which is used by her employees during the day.
The office door in the furniture store closes with a bar.
Where do working homeless people live
Officially, the average salary in Zhuzhou is 7,500 yuan. But exactly the same as in our country, the average salary is 800 dollars, but in the provinces, only people who are considered rich and successful receive such a salary.

The same thing in magnet cities, where young people from rural areas flock, not wanting to live in the village any more. They all work at a much lower rate than the locals. The Chinese do not need external migrants, they have a lot of their own labor force at reduced rates, millions of people migrate all over the country. Hence the phenomenon of "sleeping squares". I have already told you that some large squares in big cities are literally covered with sleeping bags and blankets - workers sleep there who cannot afford to rent a room because of the high rent, they want to send at least something to their elderly parents. Some people live in cars, if they have one, and cook for themselves outside the city on a gas burner.

Some people take a few hours at an Internet cafe to sleep and not get chased away by the police. Many buy a ticket for the longest bus ride and back to sleep sitting up, and it's still cheaper than renting a room. The thing is that as soon as a million Chinese come to the "small town" for jobs, the rent immediately becomes unaffordable for the migrants. Those who managed to rent a place first before the influx are doing well.

And there are also places in underground bomb shelters that have been converted into living quarters. Many young people rent a bed there, but hide the fact that they are "underground people". Because this is considered a sign of poverty and despair, and up above, in the city, they claim a prestigious appearance and decent work. This is an imbalance that China has not been able to overcome for ten years. Although, apparently, they do not consider it such a big problem.

And the girl from the toilet posted a video about her life on the Internet, she immediately got 15 thousand subscribers. So, I think, even with a bad education from a rural school, she will soon get married and live more decently.
