Restaurant to pay compensation to 4,000 customers after teenagers peed in broth (2 photos + 1 video)
Two 17-year-old boys filmed the incident and posted it online.
The incident took place last month in a private room at the Shanghai branch of China's largest hotpot chain, Haidilao.
The video, which has gone viral, shows two 17-year-olds urinating in broth while standing on a table.
After public backlash over the incident reached boiling point, the company offered compensation to 4,000 customers – all customers who ate at the branch between February 24 and March 8. Not only will they be refunded, but they will also be given 10 times the amount they paid for their meal at the establishment.
The restaurant chain apologized, noting that it had replaced all of its stoves and utensils after the incident was discussed when the video went viral online.
According to Shanghai police, the teens were drunk and were arrested for the crime.
